Africa Eye Foundation is looking to fill the following positions at the

Magrabi ICO Cameroon Eye Institute in Yaounde.

  • Receptionists (02)
  • Cashiers (02)

 

Ideal candidates:

  •  Cameroonians
  • Aged between 20 and 30 years
  • For receptionists: Holder of at least the GCE A Level, ideally a Higher National Diploma in business/commercial studies
  • For cashiers: Holder of a HND (Bac + 2 or GCA Level + 2) in one of the following areas (Banking, Finance, Business, Commerce)
  • Have at least one year’s experience in a similar position
  • Bilingual (English and French).  This will be tested during the job interview
  • Be of good moral standing
  • Corteous

JOB DESCRIPTION – RECEPTIONIST

  • Job Title: Receptionist (Registration Clerk)
  • Department: Out Patients’ Department (OPD)
  • Organizational Relationships:
  • Reports to: OPD Manager
  • Liaises with Intra and Interdepartmental staff, patients and visitors

 

Job Summary:

Greets, welcomes, interviews and directs appropriately patients coming to MICEI.

Records information required for registration in the computer. Performs clerical duties as assigned.

  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Accept/complete assignments as directed by OPD manager
  • Register patients in the computer upon arrival with appointment or as walk-in.
  • Update patient contact information in the computer.
  • Direct patients to appropriate clinic/areas.
  • Respond to patients/companions inquiries if applicable.
  • Assist in orientation of new employees as directed.
  • Obtain patient data and records such information into the computer as necessary.
  • Answer, screen and forward any incoming phone calls while providing basic information when needed.
  • Collect original referral and guarantee letters from credit patients.
  • Check the validity of all referral letters of all credit patients when applicable.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, departmental and hospital staff to ensure that OPD and hospital goals are met.
  • Communicate in a courteous and effective manner with patients, visitor and hospital employees.
  • Works closely with co-workers to maintain the high quality of patient care in assigned area.
  • Communicate effectively with team leader and OPD manager to help provide the highest quality of services.
  • Perform all duties in a professional, effective and confidential manner.
  • Perform all other duties as required or assigned.
  • Adhere to the hospital and departmental policies and procedure.
  • Adhere to the dress code policy.
  • Recognize the cultural needs of patients and adapt patient care activity accordingly.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and consistency with attendance.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:

  •   High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a clerical position.
  • Professional appearance
  • Ability to operate computers.
  • Bilingual French/English. Mastery of local languages is an asset
  • Solid communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent telephone skills
  • Ability to organise, multitask, prioritise and work under pressure

JOB DESCRIPTION – CASHIER

  • Job Title: Cashier
  • Department: Finance
  • Organizational Relationships:

3.1 Report to: Accountant

3.2 Responsible for:  Daily cash receipt at cash payment points

3.3 Liaises with:       Hospital staff and Finance personnel

  • Job Summary: The cashier shall be responsible for all cash receipts within the hospital
  • Duties and Responsibilities:

           – Responsible for maintaining accurate records/receipts of all cash received

– responsible for checking the cash collected to ensure fake banknotes and coins are not received

– Prepare a daily cash report showing the breakdown of total cash received for the day

– ensure the cash report clearly reconciles the physical cash with the figure on the cash report

– where need be, post cash entries into the accounting software

– maintain a conducive work environment void of noise and argument

– Be willing to do any other task as may be deem necessary by your employer
